Our Story
At La Carreta Pura Vida, our name pays homage to the iconic symbol of Costa Rican craftsmanship and culture: La Carreta de Sarchí. Originating from the picturesque town of Sarchí, known for its vibrant hand-painted oxcarts, La Carreta represents a blend of tradition, artistry, and community. This spot is absolutely incredible 👏🏼every 👏🏼single 👏🏼time. Note- they moved from Pine street food court to right across the street!! The chicken casado and the Arroz con pollo are insanely delicious- definitely get extra fried plantains and the creamy green sauce (I put it on everything). I found this spot last year and went three times in one week. I am beyond excited they’ve opened their own restaurant and can’t wait to go back to keep supporting!! Also- everyone that works there is beyond sweet and super lovely.
It is officially one of my favorite places in Portland, the food is really amazing, its owners are very friendly and nice people, their new place is very nice. I really recommended this place.
I ordered the chicken casado, it was perfect! Chicken was flavorful and so tasty, black beans and the salad were the best accompaniment, and the plantains were sweet. Felt like a whole, balanced meal. Plus I was greeted warmly and served right away. This is a cute, under the radar place tucked into a food hall.a.
